I had a friend who bought MacD coupon books and handed them out, rather than coins, to beggars in Philly. She said some fellows accepted them gladly and some others threw them back in her face. It all depends on what a fellow wants the money for: food or “pain relief.”
and ‘big change’ can be as simple as food.
