I like this take on Boxing Day. I didn’t understand what it was about, although I’d seen the term many times in British novels. When I realized it was the day after Christmas when the servants were given boxes with their gifts inside, it finally made sense to this American to whom “boxing” was a rather ugly sport 🙂

I just finished a post about this. Yes, Boxing Day was meant to be a good deed to servants (for those who had any) and for the poor in general. It really wasn’t supposed to be leftovers, but knowing human nature…
