My best pair of socks, soiled at play went into the wash yesterday. Went in as a pair, but came out a spare, one mate gobbled up in the fray.

What a wonderful limerick. Why is socks always lose half of themselves in the wash. I got 20 pairs and they’re odd for this very reason!
