Elizabeth II has gained the respect of the world with her steadfast, calm demeanor in some most trying situations. She was every inch a Queen, an iconic figure who will be missed, I’m sure, by her family and her nation.

Very true. Charles is 74 already and he’s had two good role models as he takes the throne, so the transition will be smooth.

It’s very strange. I guess most of our lives — and all of some people’s lives — she has been the queen and a very sympathetic, likable public person. Very unusual combination of traits and abilities. She became queen 1 month after I was born, almost to the day. ❤️

Not quite all my life, as she was crowned on June 2, 1953 and I was born near the end of March. 🙂

I got the date wrong. Someplace said Feb 6, 1952

Well, you said, “became queen” and she did when her father died Feb 6, 1952, so you were right. But the official coronation ceremony wasn’t until June 1953. Guess it takes time to plan a party. 🙂
